State Legislative Priorities

S.B. 147 – establishes provisions governing broadcasters during emergencies – this legislation allows for the training and certification of broadcasters as first responders. Working with law enforcement, such credentialed personnel will be granted access to critical facilities and infrastructure in need of repair to keep a station on the air for the purpose of transmitting emergency information. This bill is commonly referred to as the First Response Broadcasters Act of 2009.

On April 8th, 2009 the Nevada Senate unanimously passed SB147 (21 yeas, 0 nays) and sent it to the Assembly. On May 13th, the Nevada Assembly unanimously passed it and sent it to Gov. Jim Gibbons for signature. To review the bill's history, please click  here.

On Friday, May 22nd, 2009 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City, Gov. Jim Gibbons signed into law SB147 (NRS 414.310-414.340).
